Caitlin

Caitlin is a native New Mexican. Born in Albuquerque in 1980, she spent her formative years in the Bay Area, California. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in 2007. Her work is on display at numerous galleries in New Mexico and has shown in Denver.

This collection of Caitlin’s work covers a broad range of ideas and influences. Her earlier work was based on precision and detail, whereas her most recent work has expanded and broadened encompassing more ethereal and spiritual concepts. Her work is shaped by the evolution of her views on existence and the universe. She works in acrylic, chalk pastels, Lithography, ink and graphite most recently focusing on the balance of expression and form. In the recent years, her work embodies chaos theory and macro/ micro theory. The theory of balance and entropy in the universe fuels inspiration.

Naturally occurring patterns, reoccurring in the very large and the very small, have greatly influenced her newest work. The Golden Spiral, or the Fibonacci Sequence occurs time and time again, such as in sunflowers, nautilus shells, and galaxies. Much of her influence comes from the thoughts of our own existence and how it relates to the existence of everything.
